OK - Right now I am sitting at the computer in my dining room with ear plugs on listening to my itunes because without the ear plugs I would be able to hear the constant "momming" going on in my house. You think that your children get more independent as they get older but that does not seem to be the case. It is just some fairy tale that other parents tell us to make us feel better about the future when in reality the only thing that changes about the neediness of children is they learn to talk. And tonight my children can't seem to stop talking even though I have taken one to the mall for shoes for the homecoming dance, returned the friend to their house after I put my pajamas on because that mother has a stomachache and would it be OK if I took her home (mental note: remember the stomachache ploy to get out of something I don't want to do), played Lego's and listened to the explanation of what each part of the star wars figurines does in the last three star wars movies, explained for the HUNDREDTH TIME that grounded means you can NOT go on the computer even if Runescape did upgrade your account and no you are not allowed to talk on the phone either.
So you see I have been a dutiful parent tonight. And I did it after a busy day at work. It is now 9:45pm. I have officially been off duty for 45 minutes and still the "momming" continues. After the first five requests to look here, could you find for me and mom where is my, I politely reminded my children that it was after 9pm and I could only be utilized as a mom in instances of bodily injury, home invasion or eminent threat to life and limb. Yea, yea - do you have a paint brush I can borrow and not one of those fat ones you use I need a little one and where are your paints? Mom can I jump rope in the living room - I just need to move the coffee table and there will be plenty of room.
Can you see the frustration?
So I plugged in my itunes and now I sit, oblivious to the chatter that exists if I take them out, because my children are still talking to me - even though I have ear plugs in.
Where I lived in North Carolina there was a region called "Down East" A beautiful area of low lands that lead to the Outer Banks. Families in that area had been there for hundreds of years and few left. They had there phrases that others might not understand. I worked with three girls from Down East and I learned the lingo. One word was "mommicked" No one could ever really define the word for me, but I figured out what it meant and now I know the root word is "mom" . But I digress
So onto the task at hand - all the info you need to keep you in the loop at Scrapbooking In Paradise ( now that you are in the loop about my life).
First - Linda Harrison has had to unfortunately cancel for the stampfest. She had a family issue come up and family comes first. We were very sad to hear this, but she has agreed to come teach a class for us on December 15th which makes us happy. She will be doing a mini Christmas album and sign ups will start on Saturday. I may not have the sample for the class on Saturday, but I will have all the particulars (class title, description, cost, etc) I spent the day putting the stamps out and tomorrow I will finish putting the rest of the Inque Boutique stuff out - there are a lot of Anita's Outline stickers - 157 different styles in both gold and silver - and they are only $1. Elle's make-n-take is using these and you will love it!! We have ordered the cute cupcakes, put the make-n-takes together and planned a fun day for everyone. With Linda unable to attend we will be doing our make-n-takes until 5pm and have made extra to make sure everyone gets to do one. So come early and plan on having fun and learning about the Inque Boutique line!
Now for other SIP news - It is time again for Design Team auditions/tryouts/call - whatever you refer to them. Kits are available starting Wednesday October 24th and must be returned by Wednesday October 31st. Our design team creates all the samples in the store and enjoy a discount, free crops, discounted classes and access to all the newest products . It's a good gig - trust me. If you are interested in trying out for the design team here is what you need to do:
- Pick up a design team kit - this is a page kit - you will need to create one 12x12 page with product that I provide for you. You have one week to complete and turn it back in. It will NOT be returned to you - so use copies for your photos.
- Submit three original layouts that showcase your work. These will be returned to you.
- Put your name, address, phone number and email address on the BACK of each layout
The design team is a one year commitment and three projects are required each month. Please seriously consider the time commitment if you are considering trying out. If you have questions - call or email the store.
So to recap (because this has been a loooong post)
- My kids won't leave me alone, even when I blatantly ignore them
- The Spooktacular Stampfest is Saturday October 20th from 10 am - 5 pm - Be there.
- Linda Harrison will NOT be there Saturday, but she will be teaching a class on December 15th @ SIP
